Overview
The University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business will host Microfinance and Beyond: Microfinance's Contribution to Local and Global Economic Development--an internationally-focused conference on microfinance and economic development. The conference will feature 25 experts from around the world who will present information about "best practice" microfinance and economic development programs in the United States, Africa, Asia and Latin America
Objectives
- Present best-practice microfinance programs from around the world in order to hear what lessons might be learned from the experiences of others
- Provide a dynamic forum for microfinance and economic development practitioners with the goal of improving their ability to provide services to small-scale entrepreneurs
- Bring attention on microfinance as an important tool for economic development
Target Audience
- Microfinance and economic development practitioners from across the United States who are actively involved in promoting economic development and empowerment among small-scale entrepreneur communities -- NGOs; city and state economic development agencies; and local, national, and multilateral lending institutions
- Faculty and students who are actively engaged in research, teaching, and learning about economic development and empowerment among small-scale entrepreneurs
- Small-scale entrepreneurs from Southern California
